Forever Sweet Memories with Arden Creative Studio

Some memories do not need a big speech to feel enormous—and this one with my mom is exactly that. For Forever Sweet Memories, I wanted the page to feel like a soft hug: light, delicate, and full of color without being loud. I cut a large white butterfly base with my Cricut Explore 4, then filled it with a flutter of tiny rainbow die-cut butterflies to bring that “everything is brighter when you are loved” feeling. To build the background and layers, I mixed Field Notes, Laurel Grove, and Page Starters from Arden Creative Studio, keeping the patterns calm and intentional so the photo stays front and center—because the real masterpiece here is the memory.

Let’s create together this Forever Sweet Memories Layout…

Base of the layout:

As the base of the layout, I used a sheet of white cardstock from the 12″ × 12″ Bright White pack.
I added the pink paper from the Field Notes Solids 12″ × 12″ Paper Pad. From this pink paper, we will trim 1/2″ total from the sides.
Adhere the colored cardstock flat onto the white cardstock (leave the top left corner unglued).
You can cut the butterfly base with an electronic cutting machine, like I did here, or you can also cut it by hand. My piece measures 10″ wide × 7″ tall. I cut it from the same white cardstock mentioned above. You can find the design in my Cricut Design Space profile: HERE.
Gently tear the top left corner of the pink cardstock, just a little. Then stitch around the torn edges to add a beautiful textured detail. You can do this with a sewing machine or by hand.
Prepare a white cardstock mat for the photo. I am using a photo that measures 2 3/4″ wide × 3 3/4″ tall, so my mat will be 1/8″ larger on each side.
Make a small white cardstock tube that we will place under the wing that will hold the colorful butterflies. You can use a pencil to shape it.
Take the butterfly and a scoring board. We need to score the folds along the butterfly’s body.
Next, add 3D foam tape to the side where the photo will go, meaning the front/right side. Also add foam tape under the butterfly’s body.
Place the cardstock tube under the left wing.
Adhere the butterfly in the center of the layout.

Decorative details:

Choose the papers to build a beautiful color palette for the butterflies.
Die cut the butterflies and their bodies in the same colors, then assemble them.
The color order (from bottom to top) is: pink, light blue/blue, green, yellow, and orange.
Start by adhering the pink butterflies. Always attach them with dimension and follow the color order mentioned above. This way, you will create a rainbow with all of them.
Keep in mind that shaping the butterfly wings and adhering them with dimension makes a big difference. In my case, I used hot glue to make the process faster.
Continue color by color until all the butterflies are adhered.
Once you are done, add the main word or phrase. Then use sticker alphabet letters to place small phrases around the butterfly wing.
Add a secondary phrase and word, finishing it off with a few enamel dots.
Another detail I love adding is a few colorful butterflies from laser-cut packs from different collections. Do not forget to adhere them with dimension.
Final touch: white watercolor. Cover the photo and let the watercolor droplets fall into place…

And we are finished! I absolutely love how this butterfly-shaped layout turned out—soft, delicate, and full of rainbow movement, with the photo and the memory taking center stage. Cake-Shaped Mini Album Tutorial: A 40th Birthday Keepsake with Emily Moore Designs

Happy Sunday, my crafty friends! It is Celes here, and today I am sharing a project that feels extra special: a cake-shaped mini album created to document my 40th birthday weekend. This tiny keepsake is full of cheerful details—sprinkles, confetti, layered frosting, and all the happy color—while still leaving plenty of room for photos and journaling (because these memories deserved more than a single page).

For the papers, I combined designs from my Rainbow Avenue collection with a few favorites from Simple Stories. The result is bright and celebratory, but still soft and pretty—exactly the mood I wanted for this story. The stars of the project are the Make a Cake! dies, and I paired them with the Hi, Hey, Hello Word Dies plus the Card Sentiment Dies ( from Emily Moore Designs )to create bold titles and small finishing touches that bring everything together.

For today’s mini album, I used:

Let’s create together this Mini Album…

Mini Album Base:

Die cut the cake pages:
– Choose four coordinating colors for the cake pages.
– I used pink, green, light blue, and pastel yellow.
– Die cut one full cake set in each color.
– Die cut the inner cake layers from textured white cardstock for contrast.
Add a decoration color + specialty papers:
– Pick one extra color for the decorations. I used purple.
– Optional (but very worth it): add a little white/silver glitter paper and acetate for sparkle and shine.
Create the hinge:
– Cut smooth white cardstock: 1″ wide × 2 3/4″ tall.
– Score at 1/2″ (along the width).
This becomes the hinge that holds the structure together.
Assemble the individual pages:
– Keep the inner layers flat.
– Add 3D foam behind the outer front-cover layer to give each cake page dimension.
Build the album structure:
– Adhere the pages in pairs, leaving the hinge area without adhesive.
– Adhere the hinge in place and your base is complete.

Important note: Do not add adhesive where the inner cards will slide in (photos and journaling).

Decorating the Cover:

Now the fun part—turning the base into a true birthday keepsake.

Adhere the glitter cardstock die-cut pieces along the cake border.
Assemble the layered frosting swirls. I mixed solid cardstock with glitter accents for extra sparkle.
Put together the “Hi” word (die cut ahead of time), then add:
– a small stamped sentiment
– the birthday number
Pop up the main cover elements with 3D foam.
Add the frosting swirls with foam for even more dimension.
Finish with colorful and white sprinkles + a few tiny sequins.

Cover complete!

Interior:

Prepare two journaling cards and one double photo card (one photo on each side).
Slide the cards into the pages.
Add any decorative accents you like to finish it off.

And that is how this sweet little 40th birthday mini album came together! I love how the Make a Cake! dies turn a simple structure into a true keepsake—full of layers, sparkle, and space for photos and journaling that makes the memories feel alive.

Layered Beauty: Make a Moth – Betty Card with Emily Moore Designs

Happy Wednesday, crafty friends! It is Celes here, and today I am sharing a layered A2 card that is all about texture, dimension, and a bold focal point: my Layered Beauty card featuring the Make a Moth – Betty die set from Emily Moore Designs.

I used a soft peachy palette, a subtle scripted background, and an embossed panel to add that extra “you want to touch it” texture. The centerpiece is a classic focal cluster—Betty (the star, obviously), one large bloom, a few smaller flowers, and airy leaves with a hint of shimmer. Clean, elegant, and still fun… because we are not here to make boring cards.

Let’s create together this Card

Base of the card:

As the base for the card, we need a A2 side-fold card base of 4.25″ × 5.5″.
Cut one patterned panel to 4.25″ × 5.5″ (same size as the card base). In my case I used a paper from the Simple Stories Take Note 6 x 8 Paper Pad
Cut two coordinating cardstock panels: 3.25″ × 4.50″ and 3″ × 4.25″ (different colors)
Emboss the smallest panel with an embossing folder.
Adhere the full patterned panel flat onto the card base.
Add the two smaller panels using 3D foam for beautiful dimension.

Tip: If you love crisp borders and consistent spacing, nested dies are the old-school, reliable way to get it right every time.

Decorative details:

With the base ready, die cut all the pieces for the focal cluster:

Die cut Betty and mix regular cardstock with specialty papers (foil, glitter, metallics). That contrast makes her pop.
Die cut one large flower plus three smaller blooms for balance.
Die cut leaves from both solid cardstock and glitter paper to add texture and sparkle.
For the sentiment, use whatever fits your stash: stamps, rub-ons, or pre-printed strips. I stamped a small sentiment in black ink onto a pre-cut strip for a clean finish.

Design note: As you build the cluster, spread your colors across the arrangement so everything feels cohesive—not like all the “strong” elements are fighting in one corner.

Now the fun part: bringing everything to life:

Shape flower petals and gently curl the leaves to create movement.
Lift Betty’s wings slightly so she looks like she could fly right off the card.
Build the cluster with 3D foam.
Keep the most height on the main character: I used two layers of foam under Betty for extra dimension.

Same Design, Different Color Palette

I also made a second version using a different color palette to show how versatile this layout is. Same structure, totally different mood. (A proven trick: when in doubt, change the colors and pretend it was the plan all along.)

And we are done! This is one of those designs that looks “fancy” but is actually very repeatable once you have the panel sizes and cluster formula.

Hi, everyone! Happy to be back! Today I’m sharing a heart-shaped card that’s equal parts sweet and sporty—because yes, both can exist on the same card and look this cute. I created this layered “I DINK YOU’RE AWESOME” design using the Born to Think set from the This is Life collection by Spellbinders, and I leaned into a clean, fresh palette with that dreamy blue glow inside the heart (instant mood-lifter). The little paddles, the crisp “net” detail, and those fun pops of color make it feel playful without getting messy—classic heart shape, modern twist, and a sentiment that basically high-fives the recipient. Let’s take a closer look at all the details and supplies so you can recreate this happy-card energy, too!

For this card I used:

BORN TO DINK CLEAR STAMP & DIE SET
PIECED HEART ETCHED DIES
PLATINUM SIX MACHINE
ColorWheel Cardstock: BEESWAX, LAVENDER, ORCHID, BREEZE, TUTU, WATERFALL, CASCADE, ANTIQUE WHITE.

Card Base:

First, for the card base, I used the PIECED HEART ETCHED DIES. I die cut the base heart in BREEZE cardstock
I cut a smaller heart using my electronic cutting machine with CASCADE cardstock.
Using a Distress Oxide ink (any color of your choice), I blended the edges to create a soft, colored frame on the smaller heart.
Then, I adhered one heart on top of the other using 3 mm thick 3D foam tape to achieve a beautiful dimensional effect. Layering is perfect for this.
With that, the card base is ready.

Decorative details:

Once the background is finished, we can move on to the decorative details of this card:

For the net, I die cut two pieces: one from white cardstock and another from glitter cardstock from the ANTIQUE WHITE set.
Using the rest of the colors from my chosen palette, I die cut all the pieces needed to create both paddles. You can mix and match the colors however you like.
For the sentiment, I chose “I Dink You’re Awesome” from the stamp set.
I stamped it on white cardstock using VersaFine ink and my MISTI.
Then, I used the coordinating die from the set to die cut the stamped sentiment.
Next, I assembled the two paddles and started by adhering the net.
Then I added the paddles and the ball with dimension.
Finally, I popped up the sentiment to finish the card.

Modern Love You Card with Geometric Hearts

Hello, my crafty friends! Today I’m sharing a super modern card I can’t stop looking at: my “Modern Love You Card with Geometric Hearts” featuring the gorgeous Heart to Heart release by Simon Says Stamp. I went for a clean-but-bold vibe with a graphic heart pattern in a pink-to-coral ombré, little pops of gold sparkle, and that layered focal heart right in the center (because drama is allowed when it’s this cute). Crisp layers, strong contrast, and just the right amount of shine—let’s take a closer look at how this one came together so you can recreate it, too!

Card Base:

For card base, I used Simon Says Stamp WHITE A2 SIDE FOLD
First, I created the background design using the Simon Says Stamp Set of 3 Stencils Love City and Pinkfresh inks in Coral Reef, Passion Fruit, and Berrylicious. You can use an A2 card panel or your favorite cardstock for this kind of technique.
Once the panel was finished, I die cut it using one of the dies from the PRECISION LAYERING A2 A Etched Dies (S5-487) set.
Then I adhered this panel to the card base using 3D foam strips. Tip: it’s always a good idea to add foam across the entire area you’re attaching so everything stays nice and supported.

Decorative details:

Once the background is finished, we can move on to the decorative details of the card. I’ll break them down for you step by step below:

I die cut a few small hearts from die set Toaster Pastry Wafer Dies using glitter paper from Spellbinders (set Rose Gold Assortment Treasured Cardstock Pack). These will become the little sparkly details on top of the stenciled hearts in the background.
Next, I die cut a larger heart from that same glitter paper using Simon Says Stamp Basic Hearts Wafer Dies 1541sd.
For the sentiment, I grabbed stamp set Plaque Slides Love and Friendship and stamped “Love You” with Archival Ink. Then I die cut it using a smaller heart from Simon Says Stamp Basic Hearts Wafer Dies 1541sd.
I popped the larger hearts up with 3D foam, centered on the card.
After that, I adhered all the tiny glitter hearts in place.
As a final touch, I used the leftover stenciled paper to die cut a small red heart and added it to the center piece—such a simple detail, but it really finishes the card perfectly.

And just like that, this card is finished! I love how the bold geometric heart background pairs with those sparkly layered hearts—clean, modern, and with just the right pop of shine. It’s one of those designs that feels super special but is still easy to mass-produce if you need a few “Love You” cards ready to go.

Never Forget This Layout with Arden Creative Studio

This photo is one of my favorites—just me, a tiny butterfly in my hand, and one of those simple moments you never want to forget. Today I’m sharing my “Never Forget This” layout using the Laurel Grove collection by Arden Creative Studio, with soft rainbow garlands, lots of layers, and a sweet central cluster packed with details so the photo stays the true star of the page.

For today’s layout, I used:

Let’s create together this Never Forget This Layout

Base of the layout:

As the base for the layout, I chose a patterned paper from the Arden Creative Studio Laurel Grove 12×12 Paper Pad. Another tip: you can remove the center of the patterned paper to make the most of the remaining border. To do that, cut 1″ in from each side.
Then I added a Natural White cardstock from the brand’s Premium Cardstock (Arden Creative Studio – 12 x 12 – Natural White) . I trimmed this sheet by 1/2″ on each side.
From the Arden Creative Studio Laurel Grove Solids 12×12 Paper Pad, I picked 5 colors. I cut circles using 1 3/4″ and 1″ circle punches. You’ll need to cut 5 circles of each color in each size.
Fold the circles in half and glue them down by their center.
Place all the larger half-circles across the layout base to create garlands. Stitch them with a sewing machine or by hand to give them that true garland look.
Glue the smaller half-circles on top of the larger ones.

Decorative details:

Using one of the frames from the Arden Creative Studio Laurel Grove Ephemera Pack , I framed my black-and-white photo. Then, I used the leftover patterned paper from the layout base to create an additional frame for that finished piece.
I adhered this framed photo with 3D foam, placing it 2 1/2″ from the left edge and 3 1/2″ up from the bottom of the layout.
Next, I started adding the sentiments and embellishments from the collection. I used phrases from Arden Creative Studio Laurel Grove Ephemera Pack, Arden Creative Studio Laurel Grove Page Makers Ephemera Pack, one sentiment from the Arden Creative Studio Laurel Grove 6×8 Paper Pad (and added tiny gold brads as an extra detail), plus flowers and butterflies from the Arden Creative Studio Laurel Grove Laser Cuts set. Everything is layered with dimension to create a beautiful sense of depth.
For the final touch, I added a few stamped details using the Letter Box Postmarks Clear Stamp Set set.
And to finish it off, I added a few drops of gold watercolor—such a small detail, but it gives the whole page a truly magical touch.

Shaker Frames Christmas Cards with Emily Moore Designs

Happy Monday, my crafty friends! Today I’m thrilled to share my first project as a Brand Ambassador for Emily Moore Designs—a duo of Shaker Frame Christmas Cards starring the beautiful “The Doily” die. I went for a soft, modern holiday look: clean white frames, scalloped windows, and cheerful shaker confetti, all paired with the Hard Candy Christmas collection by Simple Stories. Sweet colors, crisp layers, and playful movement—just the right mix of dreamy and festive. Let’s take a closer look at how these came together and how you can make them, too!

For today’s cards, I used:

Card Base:

For card bases, I used Simon Says Stamp WHITE A2 SIDE FOLD
From the Hard Candy Christmas 6″×8″ paper pad, die-cut two panels using PRECISION LAYERING A2 A Etched Dies (S5-487) to create the shaker backers.
Die-cut two classic white fronts from ColorWheel Cardstock 8.5″×11″ (Classic White) using Shaker Frame Die – The Doily. I wanted a clean-and-simple look so the shaker details really shine.
Adhere each patterned panel to Simon Says Stamp WHITE A2 Side-Fold Scored Cards.
Back each doily window with clear acetate, then line the opening with 3D Foam Strips to form the shaker well.
Place the shaker mix in the center of the card base. Seal by adhering the foam-backed window panel on top. Card bases are ready for embellishing!

Decorative details:

For the sentiments, I used the Scrap & Learn Christmas stamp set with the Sizzix stamping tool and Tsukineko VersaFine Onyx Black. I stamped a few phrases, let them dry, and trimmed them into neat strips to tuck under the clusters.

Pink shaker: I built a small scene at the bottom—chipboard houses + tree with the Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas sign, and the sentiment strip “Season’s Greetings.” I popped a few pieces up with 3D foam for soft dimension and finished with enamel dots in coordinating colors.
Green shaker: I created a playful gift cluster around the doily window—Santa, presents, and a “Santa Claus” banner. Elements are layered with 3D foam so they overlap the scalloped edge. Enamel dots add that final sparkle.

Design tips: keep the margins open so the panel design stays center stage, form a visual triangle with your enamel dots, and use thin (1–2 mm) foam so the cards stay mail-friendly.

And that’s how these sweet shaker Christmas cards came together! Clean frames, scalloped windows, and a sprinkle of sparkle—each layer placed with intention so the details shine without losing that airy, modern feel. Candy-bright colors, playful icons, and soft dimension make them elegant yet fun—perfect for sending a little holiday magic in motion.

Let’s get started with this blog hop! For this occasion, I prepared three cards. I’m IN LOVE with this release.

For today’s card, I used:

FAITH AND HOPE CARD:

Die-cut the outline once from white cardstock.
Die-cut the same design from your colored papers and keep all interior pieces. Also die-cut from silver foil to use the star (and any accents).
Create backers: cut an arch backer from vellum and a slightly larger one from silver glitter to form a narrow halo.
Assemble the “stained glass”: adhere the white outline to thin scrap cardstock, inlay the colored pieces, and add the silver star.
Glue the vellum behind the glitter backer.
Add dimension: back the finished framed piece with foam and center it directly on the A2 card base. No extra front panel used.
Hot-foil the sentiment with the Spellbinders plate in silver on a slim strip; attach near the lower edge with thin foam.
Finish: press, align, done—clean lines, soft shimmer, and all the focus on that beautiful window.

MERRY CHRISTMAS CARD:

Die-cut the frame: cut the “Merry Cover” once from white cardstock for the top layer.
Build the dimension stack: die-cut the same cover 2–3 times from white cardstock. Glue the cardstock layers together, align edges, then glue the white cardstock layer on top.
Optional vellum buffer: trim a vellum panel slightly smaller than A2 and adhere it to the card base. This softens the look and separates the stack from the base.
Adhere the stack: center the layered “Merry Cover” on the base (on top of the vellum if using).
Color inlays: die-cut the cover from each colored cardstock; inlay the M/E/R/R/Y interiors into the openings. Press flat.
Stamp the sub-sentiment: stamp “CHRISTMAS” in black on a white strip; trim and adhere (pop with thin foam if you want a little lift).
Finish: add a few silver stars done—bold, dimensional, and merry without overthinking it.

COZY WISHES CARD:

Emboss the background: run the white panel through the Snowy Hillside folder. Adhere the embossed panel to the A2 base (flat or with thin foam).
Die-cut the trees. cut the Frosty Tree Trio once from green cardstock (choose two shades) and once from white glitter cardstock.
Layer the trees. glue glitter die-cuts over the green ones, slightly offset or trimmed so the glitter reads as snowy caps.
Add chunky “snow»: tap embossing ink on select branches and tops, sprinkle Ultra High powder, and heat from below until glossy and dimensional.
Arrange and adhere: cluster the trees near the lower third; adhere flat or with thin foam for depth.
Sentiment: add a slim “Warm & Cozy Wishes” strip across the trunks (pop it up if desired).
Finish: dot on a few silver stars, burnish edges, done—quiet texture, cozy layers, winter magic.
